Embroidered Patch 450 ME/P – Black Panther

The new official embroidered patch of the 450th Helicopter Squadron (ME/P) features the Black Panther, chosen for its adeptness in nighttime operations.

The former emblem bore the motto “ΑΙΕΝ ΙΠΤΑΣΘΕ” (“Always Fly”) and 12 gold stars representing the Mi-35P helicopters originally fielded by the squadron.

In the updated design, the Mi-35P are no longer mentioned, signaling the squadron’s transition into a new era without them.

The patch also incorporates a reference to Cimon, the Athenian leader who sailed to Cyprus in 450 B.C.—a date mirrored by the squadron’s number.

Circular rings represent the bond between Greece and Cyprus, while the spear and general’s rank reflect the mission and responsibility of the squadron.

The panther embodies the squadron’s capability to conduct day and night missions.
